It always makes me laugh when I see negative comments and anger with relation to Yarnbombing.
"It HARMS the tree" they yell in unison, these angry critics of Tree girdling.
"Why don't you do something USEFUL, like knit socks for the homeless" others bleat.
As if we should not enjoy knitting for whatever reason we'd like.
I have to say that I have seen some total ridiculousness out there, but I'm all for expressing yourself. We don't have to like everything, do we? I guess I've just been thinking more of how it DOES really stay and stagnate for ever.

have those same beings yelling about the harm purportedly done to the tree that have been yarnbombed "hugged" a tree lately? if they had, they would have heard a deep and audible sigh, like relief, and a general bark cooing noise - trees like a cuddle now and again
ReplyDeleteYes, I have concerns about leaving my yarn around the city too. I put up a hot pink piece about a year ago, and it's pretty gross & gray now.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think that if you monitor the tags and take them down, you're good to go! My local yarn store has a yarn tree, and I regularly see people hug the tree, pose for photos, giggle, etc. http://3.ly/qiG
